Do we receive any information from third parties? We may receive limited information from third parties such as the sign-in providers you choose (for example, Google or Apple) and our payment processors.

How do we process your information? We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We may also process your information for other purposes with your consent. We process your information only when we have a valid legal reason to do so.

In what situations and with which parties do we share personal information? We may share information in specific situations and with specific third parties.

What are your rights? Depending on where you are located geographically, the applicable privacy law may mean you have certain rights regarding your personal information.

1. What information do we collect?

Personal information you disclose to us

In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us.

All personal information that you provide to us must be true, complete, and accurate, and you must notify us of any changes to such personal information.

Information automatically collected

In Short: Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and/or browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Services.

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and to analyze how visitors use our website through tools such as Google Analytics. Google Analytics collects information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on pages. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Like many businesses, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies.

If you make a purchase through our Services, we may collect information such as your name, billing address, and payment details. This information is used solely for processing the transaction and is stored securely. We do not store full credit card numbers and only share this information with third-party payment processors (such as Stripe and PayPal) as needed to complete the transaction.

2. How do we process your information?

In Short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We may also process your information for other purposes with your consent.

We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services.

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we process your personal information only when we have a valid legal basis to do so: with your consent, where processing is necessary to perform our contract with you, where we have a legitimate interest that is not outweighed by your rights and freedoms, or where processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

Web pages you ask us to format

When you give us a link, we fetch that page and process it so we can give you a clean version to read, save, or print. As part of that, we check the page automatically against our Acceptable Use Policy. That check analyzes the text of the page and the images on it.

This analysis is carried out with the help of third-party AI providers acting as our service providers. We do not use page content to train AI models. Images are analyzed while the page is being processed and are not stored. Where a page is flagged, we keep a record of the page address, the category, and the reason for up to 90 days so that we can respond to appeals and improve the system.

Files you upload

Files you upload to our PDF tools are treated differently. We do not inspect, review, or analyze their contents, and we do not use them to train anything.

Several of our tools run entirely in your browser and never send your file to us at all. Where a tool does need to process a file on our servers, that file and the file it produces are automatically deleted within 48 hours, whether or not you download them.

3. When and with whom do we share your personal information?

In Short: We may share information in specific situations described in this section and/or with the following third parties.

We may need to share your personal information in the following situations:

Service Providers. We may share your information with third-party vendors, service providers, and agents who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, payment processing, analytics, email delivery, customer support, and the automated content checks described in this notice (including the third-party AI providers that carry them out). These providers may use your information only to perform those services for us.

Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.

Affiliates. We may share your information with our affiliates, in which case we will require those affiliates to honor this privacy notice. Affiliates include our parent company and any subsidiaries, joint venture partners, or other companies that we control or that are under common control with us.

Advertising Partners. We may share usage data with advertising partners such as Publisher First, Inc. dba Freestar to serve relevant ads and measure performance.

4. Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as web beacons and pixels) to collect and store information. These technologies help us understand how our services are used, improve functionality, and deliver relevant content. You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings, but please note that some features of our services may not function properly without them.

5. How do we handle your social logins?

In Short: If you choose to register or log in to our Services using a social media account, we may have access to certain information about you.

Our Services offer you the ability to register and log in using a third-party account (such as your Google or Apple account). Where you choose to do this, we will receive certain profile information about you from that provider, such as your name, email address, and profile picture.

We will use the information we receive only to create and manage your account and for the purposes that are described in this privacy notice. Please note that we do not control, and are not responsible for, other uses of your personal information by your third-party provider. We recommend that you review their privacy notice to understand how they collect, use, and share your personal information, and how you can set your privacy preferences on their sites and apps.

6. Is your information transferred internationally?

In Short: We may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own.

Our servers are located in the United States. If you are accessing our Services from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed by us in our facilities and by those third parties with whom we may share your personal information (see "When and with whom do we share your personal information?" above), in the United States and other countries.

International Data Transfers

We may transfer personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including the United States. Where we do so, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the use of the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and reliance on third-party service providers certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where applicable.

If you are a resident in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom (UK), then these countries may not necessarily have data protection laws or other similar laws as comprehensive as those in your country. However, we will take all necessary measures to protect your personal information in accordance with this privacy notice and applicable law.

We also strive to comply with other relevant data protection laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Canada's PIPEDA, and Brazil's LGPD, where applicable.

7. How long do we keep your information?

In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this privacy notice unless otherwise required by law.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements).

When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

For content rather than personal information, we apply fixed periods. Files you upload to our PDF tools, and the files those tools produce, are automatically deleted from our servers within 48 hours. Records of pages flagged under our Acceptable Use Policy are kept for up to 90 days.

8. How do we keep your information safe?

In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process, including encryption of data in transit. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.

9. Do we collect information from minors?

In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 13 years of age.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. Minors under the age of 18 may use the Services only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to our Terms and Conditions. We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 13 years of age. If we learn that personal information from children under 13 years of age has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 13, please contact us at support@printfriendly.com.

10. What are your privacy rights?

In Short: You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time.

Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, which may be express and/or implied consent depending on the applicable law, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us by using the contact details below.

However, please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.

Account Information

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can contact us. Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our legal terms and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.

11. Do United States residents have specific privacy rights?

In Short: Depending on your state, you may have rights to access, correct, and delete your personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising.

Several US states, including California, give residents specific rights over their personal information. Depending on where you live, these may include the right to know what personal information we process about you, the right to access it and receive a copy, the right to correct it, the right to delete it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at support@printfriendly.com or, for account data, by using the deletion controls described in the "Other privacy settings information" section below. We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframes required by applicable law, and you may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

We do not sell personal information for money. Like most ad-supported websites, we share certain usage data and online identifiers with advertising partners in order to show ads, which may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some state laws. You can opt out at any time using the advertising opt-out tools described in the "Other privacy settings information" section below or by contacting us. Where required by applicable law, we treat recognized browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as the Global Privacy Control, as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

12. Controls for do-not-track features

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized, and we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals. We do, however, honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as the Global Privacy Control where applicable law requires it, as described in the United States privacy rights section above. If a standard for online tracking that we must follow is adopted in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this privacy notice.

13. Do we make updates to this notice?

In Short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.

We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Revised" date and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. If we make material changes to this privacy notice, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this privacy notice frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
